June 21-23, 2006, Cebu City, Philippines- NEC Philippines participated in the gathering of businesses from private and public sector at the Cebu Business Month 2006 o­n June 21 to 23 at the Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines.

This year's theme, Invest IT in Cebu brought about 1000 delegates from all over the country from across industries. Top businessmen assembled to exchange insights strategies for the Cebu province. Conrad Mendoza, NEC Philippines Sales Manager spoke in behalf of Mr. Tomohiro Yagi, NEC Philippines President and NEC Solutions Asia Pacific CEO. Mr. Yagi's address entitled, "Cebu, Serious Contender for Asia ICT Hub" concentrated o­n the relationship of NEC and Cebu, stating that the skills of the Cebuanos together with the technological support from NEC will take them towards becoming the Asian ICT Hub. In his speech, he commended Cebu's social responsibilities towards bridging the digital divide, ensuring a strong middle class and investments for Cebu.

Aside from the plenary, a display of products and skills at the Exhibit provided opportunity for the booming business in Cebu, both for the IT and public sector. The three -day event was also a venue for discussions for Cebu's plans in achieving the Silicon Valley model, that of becoming Asia's ICT hub not just for innovations but also for manpower.
