MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has adopted biometrics technology, effectively raising the bar in its crime prevention and detection. After an evaluation of international crime detection technologies in the market, the PNP has adopted NEC's Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), which is acknowledged as one of the world's most efficient among the category of computerized solutions.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Lab celebrates 61 years of service with NEC Philippines

May 22, 2006, Manila, Philippines - NEC Philippines was invited by the Philippine National Police Crime Lab to showcase its Positive Identification (PID) during its 61st anniversary celebration last month.

Already an NEC AFIS customer, PNP invited NEC Philippines to participate in its 61st anniversary festivities through a mini exhibit which featured a demonstration of PID and NEC's other Biometric mobile solutions. PNP's NEC AFIS system has already had successes in the resolution of some high-profile criminal cases in the Philippines.

The mini exhibit was attended by various PNP officers and staff, together with NECPH EVP Leonardo Santos, and other NECPH sales and business development staff. The event was also made possible through the assistance of NECSAP colleagues, Wong Kong Sun and Tan Swee Aun.
